In 2019, Tamil Civic Action launched a campaign that works toward the renaming of Seasons Park located near the intersection of Seasons Dr & Grosbeak Cres to “Bharati Park.” This initiative will be a way to preserve one of the richest and oldest renowned languages and history. Mahaakavi Bharathiyar was a symbol of a just society, and his writing embodies principles of contemporary Canada and Toronto such as inclusion, feminism, and tolerance. In the light of many achievements within our quilt of diversity, we believe that Bharathi certainly embodies many of the attributes we embrace in our city. His life’s work is a testament to the absolute dedication and commitment to our communities and our future leaders locally, as well as globally, by showing the importance of community building. It is our distinct pleasure to put forward a name that serves to unify our communities and continue to project a sharp positive image of inclusivity in the City of Toronto.
